Sweets

Desserts, I believe is the best friend for most girls. Especially those petite and dainty desserts, they are a killer to most girls. Was walking around the Central the other day with my dearies while waiting for our dear Paul to arrive, I came across this shop that sells handmade chocolates, macarons and patisserie. The shop itself was very girlish looking with pink and white tones decorating it. The things that they sell was super cute and attractive that my ‘penguins’ and me decided to go in and take a look at it.

macarons

While looking, we found a gift box that has a mixture of handmade chocolates, macarons and patisserie. We decided to purchase it and served it as a ‘birthday cake’ for James birthday. While paying at the counter, I saw their post card advertisement. It was sweet and interesting as they show all the pictures of their products on the card itself. For the macarons, they had also stated what are the flavors they have. For a postcard advertisement, I find that it is not as fragile as a flyer, thus one will be able to pass it around to their friends and family who are interested in this.

Currently, this kind of desserts is more popular with the younger generations. I think that it is mainly because of the difference in the culture of the older and the younger generations. For the older generations, they will only spend on food that will fill up their stomachs as that find that it is not necessary for them to spend money on unnecessary things. But for my generation, we believe in quality of life, we think that, sometimes we need to pamper ourselves. So this will be the time when we will treat ourselves to restaurants and those petite and dainty desserts. That is why most of the customers I observed in this shop are working young adults. If yo are interested, you can also go to their website to look at the products.

marketing is a matter of psychology. accurate determinism of human behaviours from that of the consumer.

once you can nail that down, chances are sales go up. of course marketing is as much business as it is psychology.

food which was once viewed as a necessity is now a luxury? that might be true but it’s a matter of perspective. is indulgence really considered a form of luxury? i guess it is but there will come a time where such things become commodities and the value of the word luxury depreciates and we draw a whole new definition for the word itself.

the promotion of such business concepts relies on the principles of mass media to a certain extent.

i guess it is how one utilizes it in the context appropriately who will be making the big bucks.

We would rather enjoy eating a pretty plate of dessert despite the fact that it might do nothing at satisfying our hunger.
Food has become an indulging accessory where most of the time we enjoy by looking at it rather than actually tasting it.
Depends really, but even so, even if we do mention the media’s influence, the point is that as long as we do enjoy, it fullfills that satisfying need to induldge ourselves.

In reply to Clair, I agree that food no longer serve as a necessity which satisfy one’s hunger. For now, food has been beautified and some how people enjoy looking at it even though they cannot eat it. =)

These sweets look so cute that even if one were to buy it, it’s not because of the taste, its because of the patterns haha.
I like to buy things based on appearances rather than the taste of it, cause normally nice looking things would taste good^^.
Nowadays food has come to a time where appearances are needed to enable good sales.

yummy~ this defiantly look appealing and delicious… haha as the perception of people changes, we now look more into the wrapping, the design and the overall appearance of things in general… regarding if its food, clothes, shoes, etc
So in the case of selling desserts, no looks means not nice… but it is all not true as looks can be deceiving too… what matter most is the inside ^^

This is part of knowing how to enjoy in life. Without it, you wouldn’t say that one is enjoying life to the fullest. Sweet is a kind of thing that will made a liitle kid smile even when they are crying. By just a look at it their sadness will fade into the air. It has a kind effect, working on your mental part that’ll make you calm down. Destressing can be done with it as well, thats why kids out there love it so much.
